Schools. All of us went to the Catholic-run Saint Perer and Paul grade school, located on Pioneer Street. See information on the school and the parish at the Sts. Peter and Paul Church website. Especially see the detailed parish history. On down 11th Street for a look for Nemaha Valley High School. For grade schoolers 1st through 8th, there is Seneca Public Grade School over on Nemaha Street, or a few blocks away In the brick-paved business district of Main Street you'll find the Seneca Public Library located in the stone building of the old Universalist Church. The library includes excellent genealogical resources. See also information at the Nemaha County Genealogical Society. ![]() Going west on Main Street, you cross 11th Street onto the winding Community Drive and see the 18-hole golf course on your right! Continuing along Community Drive, off to your left is the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital. This state-of-the-art facility replaced the old Seneca Hospital we all remember. Continuing along Community Drive, take a right at the highway and you return to Seneca through the highway business district. Driving around the countryside, you will see many spires of classic turn-of-the-century style Catholic churches. St. Mary's Church in St. Benedict, northwest of Seneca, has been extensively restored and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Although the area is primarily Catholic, other churches in Seneca include the United Methodist Church, the First Congregational United Church of Christ, the Hope Baptist Church, and the Word of Life Church.
